I know this is a little late, but better late than never right? This year's Thanksgiving was full of the usual: Lots of family, tons of fun, and more than enough amazing food. It was our turn to spend it with my family so we ate dinner at my Grandma Ferrin's house. It was pretty quiet considering it was just my family, my grandma and my aunt. There is usually quite a bigger crowd whenever we are up there. We missed all who were elsewhere, but it also made it fun to have it a little smaller. At my grandma's there is always way too much food and this dinner was no exception. We stuffed ourselves to the brim. Cam had to work at the Jazz game that night, so he left to go there and the rest of us headed up to my mom's aunt's house for some delicious pie. It was really fun to spend the holiday with my fam.
Since all of Cam's siblings were taking their turn at their in-laws, his parents decided to take advantage of thier time-share benefits and rented a condo in Midway for the week. It was so nice because we were able to drive back and forth and spend time with them during the week too. It was nice to get a couple little vacations during that week.
Black Friday was fun, but not as successful as last year. We went to Wal-mart at 3 am and were going to try to get a laptop. The line for the laptop was about 50 people long and had started at 11. Talk about dedicated people. Needless to say, we didn't even try to get it and we were a little bummed. We did, however, get to talk to many other crazy shoppers that we knew, so it was fun and we did get a few dvds, an xbox game and a digital frame which made it a little more worth getting up that early. We came home and Cam took a little nap before he had to head to work. I stayed up because I knew if I went to sleep I would want to sleep all day so when my mom called me at 6 to see if I wanted to head out again I was all ready.
I was definitely not planning on shopping ALL day long, but we shopped until about 4 and it was so fun. I loved being able to hang out with my mom all day and just get to talk with her. It really was so fun! She laughed at me changing my mind a hundred times about what decorations to put on my tree (did you know I am the world's most indecisive person?) and we were pretty successful in getting a good start on our Christmas shopping. I loved it...even my legs were sore by the end of the day :) After shopping I went home to pack so we could go back up to Midway and once Cam got home, off we went to stay for the rest of the weekend.
The weekend was really fun as well. I wish that everyone could have come back up with us, but we enjoyed being with Wade and Jen and Adam, Bri and Jack. On Saturday, while the guys watched the game, Jen and I headed to Park City to continue shopping (Bri had to work so she couldn't join us) We got some really great stuff and it made me even more excited for the Christmas season. I loved being able to spend a few hours with Jen and get to chat one-on-one. I am so grateful to have such a great mother-in-law! Of course we were gone longer than planned, but we (or at least I) enjoyed every minute.
Sunday was the end of our holiday weekend and we were sad to see it go. I love Thanksgiving and the Fall and look forward to it every year. I am a stickler on not doing any Christmas things until after because I don't like to see it get overlooked. This year I did break my own rules a couple times and listened to a little Christmas music, but only a couple :)
I am so grateful for all of my family. I loved being able to spend time with them over that weekend. A big thank you to everyone for making our Thanksgiving 2009 a perfect one!
P.S. During all of that you would think I would have taken more pictures, but I didn't. So disappointed in myself :(. I'm sorry for such a long, no picture post. I will try harder.
