Sleeping on the couch

Before we got married, we invested in a very nice new mattress and it really is amazing and very much worth the money spent. We worked hard to refinish our bed frame and love how it turned out. So knowing all that, you would think that we would never not want to sleep there. Funny thing is, is we love to sleep on the couch or camp out on the floor in the front room.
Sometimes it is planned, like we have enough blankets and pillows from our bed to make it pretty comfy. But, other times we just fall asleep watching a movie and just stay there for the night. Those times are not very comfy, but still so much fun. Our couch works really well because we can share a pillow in the corner, and each of us lay on a different section of the couch.
I really like waking up on a lazy Saturday or Sunday morning on the couch or in our sleeping bags, it kind of just reminds us that it is, in fact, the weekend and we get to spend the day together.
I can't really fully explain it andI know it sounds weird, but we really love it :)
And yep you guessed it, we are spending tonight in our sleeping bags on the living room floor and I am so excited about it!

My Dream Town

I have always wanted to live in Sugar House.
No, it's not because I love the area or know anything about it for that matter and it's not because I know anyone that lives there, no it is much, much deeper than that.
Ever since I was a little girl, whenever I heard "Sugar House", I automatically thought of a place with houses shaped like cupcakes and cobblestone-like roads made of candy.
I guess it could also be like a gingerbread village with candycane fences and roofs made of those spiral candies...what do they call them?
Anyhow, I could go on about how everyone is always happy because their diet is strictly cake, cookies, and candy...(why is that sounding like my own diet at the moment?)...but I can't let you in on all my secrets :)
So even though I obviously know that Sugar House is not a gingerbread village, I still love the name. Who wouldn't love to live in a town with a "sweet" name like that?
I know I definitely would.
Do you think Cam would consider that as a legitimate reason to buy a house there?

An Old Friend

Today I visited an old friend. One I have missed very much and I was not dissappointed with my visit. I'm sure you have heard of Spanky's (the sandwich place in Colonial Square) Well, it is my favorite. For a couple years I went there almost everyday during the week. But, since changing jobs a year ago I haven't been able to go back. Today's visit was fantastic, my sandwich was made exactly how I like it and was accompanied by Red Cream Soda...a delicious combination and was finished off by a chocolate chip cookie.
I really missed the old days though. Spanky's just isn't the same without the company of some of your best friends. Today reminded me of how much fun we had and all the things we did together. I made some of my best friends working at that dental office. During my employment there, I went through some of the most defining times of my life. I changed more than I could have imagined and they were there through it all. In fact, they, especially Darci, should probably be credited with Cam and I's relationship. They helped me figure out what I really wanted before I messed it all up :)
I can honestly say that I can't remember one day waking up and dreading going to work. We had a blast. The circumstances in the office weren't always prime, but we stuck together and looked out for each other and ALWAYS found a way to have fun.
Now everyone has moved on to much better things. And although I am so grateful for my job, especially that I still get to work with Darci, it's just not the same. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way throwing a pity party, just enjoying thinking about such fun times. I wish all the time that we could find an office for us all to work it...if wishes were fishes right? :) Anyway, just some rambling about some thoughts. Legacy Family Dental was seriously the funnest place to work and I am so glad that I got to know all those girls! (If only the owners weren't so completely dishonest...to say the least...but you didn't hear that from me;)) I wish I would have had a blog then so I could have written about all the crazy things we did.
Dumb things like, laughing histerically when we found a purse laying out to fill with shredded paper, ganging up on the main culprit and trashing her car after work, making up rap songs to sing to our office manager, dressing up for Halloween, making an 80s workout video in our front office, spending hours burning papers at Mueller Park because the owner would NOT buy a paper shredder, talking about anything and everything, wedding showers, baby showers, birthdays and of course lunch at Spanky's and I could go on...but I won't. Anway, just in case you haven't caught it already, I loved it and I miss all you girls! I feel a reunion coming on :)

Blue and Red

Even though we have been married for over a year, my apartment has much to be desired in the decoration department. I realized that it is not from a lack or want or will, it is a product of indecision. I can't make decisions if my life depends on them. I especially struggle with things like choosing color or style that will stick around for a while. After this long of thinking that the colors in my kitchen would be orange, blue, and green (sort of retro to match my brown stove) I have officially changed my mind. I will be decorating with blue and red with brown and white in there as well and I can't wait! As soon as I thought of it, it just clicked and I knew that was what I wanted...for now at least ;) I have been dreaming up grand ideas for blue and red crafts I can make to brighten up my boring kitchen ever since! I'll update you on the progess!

Dirty Jobs

Last saturday was cleaning day...deep cleaning day. We have been having problems with our sinks not draining and for about a week before that we weren't really able to do dishes. And I wasn't about to call our Landlord without doing something about them so I decided the only choice I had was to do them in my bathtub...

After I had loaded the dishes into the sink, I thought i would just try plunging our kitchen sink to see if that would help and let me tell you it was DISGUSTING. As I was plunging the one side (which, by the way, had gross water in it) trying not to splash it, black water started shooting up out of the other side. I was seriously gagging. I don't usually get grossed out, but dirty dish water stuff just goes over the edge. But, guess what? After the nasty black fountain, it just went down and was fixed for good! Go me!

I decided that since my dishes were already in the tub, that I would just do them there. It worked pretty well except my back hurt from bending over it. I was so glad to get that problem taken care of though, what a relief!

Then Cam came home and I had left the bathroom sink up to him to fix, so he went to work...unfortunately after a couple tries we just discovered that the problem was deeper in the wall and we can't get it so we will just leave that to our Landlord.

I know you wanted to know how gross our day was...I found it pretty amusing. I guess that is the joy of living in an older apartment. Gotta love it!
