A Spiritual Weekend
A couple of weekends ago Cam's cousin Brandon was baptized. This baptism was especially exciting because Brandon is 14 years old. Some of Brandon's family are members, but inactive and since he started living with his wrestling coach in Springville, he has gained his own testimony and really has been converted and we are so excited for him.
Cam is really close to Brandon and calls him his little brother. They share the love of wrestling and have a lot of fun wrestling whenever they get together. Cam has been someone that Brandon has talked to about the church and has been a great example to Brandon and that is why Brandon asked him to Confirm him. Cam was really flattered that he would ask and very excited to be able to have the opportunity.
On saturday Cam went down to the baptism with his parents and sister (I wasn't able to go) and he said it was one of the most spiritual baptisms he had been to. Then on Sunday morning we drove down for the confirmation. The confirmation was beautiful and I really enjoyed getting to be there for Brandon as well as being there to hear Cam confirm him. It made me so grateful to have the priesthood in my home and made me excited for when we get to have the same experience with our own kids. I'll take a chance to say thank you to Cam for honoring his priesthood and for being such a great leader in our home. He is such a great example to me and helps me to want to be better all the time.
After dinner with the family we quickly drove back to Bountiful for my brother to be ordained an Elder which was also very exciting. I am impressed by the good choices he is making and am excited for him and the experiences he will have by holding that Priesthood.
It was a very spiritual weekend and we enjoyed every minute of it!

Spring means softball!
Last year Cam started playing on a recreation Softball team in Bountiful and instantly fell in love with it. And although he wouldn't agree, it seemed to come really naturally and he got good at it fast. He started about the same time we started dating and so our Friday nights were spent at the softball field. I loved it because I have spent many hours at various field watching my dad and brothers play softball and baseball on different teams over the years, so I felt right at home. The season unfortunately ended, but we found out about a co-ed league for the fall, and as you can imagine, it didn't take long for Cam to convince all of his sibilings and their spouses along with some friends to put together a team. I, however, wasn't very easy to convince because while I had spent many hours watching this sport, my softball career ended after 1 year of t-ball and I never came out of retirement. I don't do well with the individual pressure of batting. But fortunately Cam was pretty convincing and I didn't want to miss out, so I agreed.
We had a really fun season and although we weren't what you would call professionals we ended up in second place! ...Okay so there were only 4 teams, but hey second is better than fourth right?
So here we are with spring coming again and so that means softball is starting. We have had some pre-season training and I think we might have improved from last year already. I have just recently found that I love going to the batting cages. I had actually never tried it before going a few days ago. I always thought they were just for actual baseball players to practice so they could improve their batting average and not for the untrained like me. And even though that isn't true, I felt that I had a legitimate reason to go seeing as I have joined a softball team!
Of course we play because we think it is fun, but also it is a great excuse to get out and have some great bonding time! It really has been fun being together as a family. And what better night to have it on than Monday nights...great family night activity I say!
Tonight is our first game of the season and we are hoping that our training has paid off! I guess there's only one way to find out.
The pictures at the top are from last season (they got put there when I added them and I can't seem to figure out how to change it...I guess softball isn't the only thing I need to get better at!) Hooray for second place!! Lets hope we can keep it up this year!

We're finally here!
We are finally joining the world of blogging! I set this account up right after we got married with great intentions to post our exciting moments...and you can see how well that went. So now as I begin, I will try to catch you up on our lives together thus far. I'm sorry for those of you who have already heard the stories plenty of times, just by pass those ones. I mostly am excited to actually write things down so that in twenty years, I will at least be able to have some sort of record of our beginning. I have never been a journal keeper or a scrapbooker and have always felt guilty for not being either so here goes my crack at at least starting something. I hope you enjoy!
